Green Building Programs

The Canada Greener Homes Loan offers interest-free financing to help Canadians make their homes more energy efficient and comfortable.
The loan can help you finance eligible retrofits that are recommended by an energy advisor and that have not yet been started.

An $800M program to help low-medium income renters and homeowners to retrofit their homes and cut their energy bill, funded in Budget 2024. This program is the next phase of the Greener Homes Program, and will help Canadians in every region to conveniently upgrade their homes while cutting costs and emissions.
This program ensures upgrades will be delivered at no cost to the household, and that benefits will be up to four times more than the previous grant program – or up to $20,000.

The program helps eligible homeowners with median income or less who are currently heating their homes with oil make the transition to a better, more efficient option.
There is no need for a home energy evaluation as part of this program.

This program provides contributions for pre-retrofit activities needed to plan, prepare, and apply for retrofit funding. It also offers forgivable and low-interest loans to help affordable housing providers complete deep energy retrofits on existing multi-unit residential buildings.
