It has been great to start the new year by seeing so many of you around the community including my first Coffee and Conversation in three years! Below are dates for more chances to catch up in the neighbourhood. As always, you can also reach out to my office if you have ideas or concerns you would like to share with me.
This year also brings the launch of the Canada Dental Benefit. The Canada Dental Benefit is for families with children under 12 who have an adjusted net income of less than $90,000, and who do not have access to private dental insurance. This benefit gives parents up-front, direct payments totaling up to $1,300 per eligible child under 12 (up to $650 per year) to help cover the costs of dental care services.

Work and travel in Canada with International Experience Canada
Do you know a young person (18–35) who would like to travel and work outside of Canada? They can apply with International Experience Canada to work in close to 40 countries. The program helps youth explore new cultures, languages, and societies, all while developing life skills and improving their job prospects for the future.
If you know a young person from one of these countries, the application process for International Experience Canada (IEC) is now open for international youth who are interested in gaining work and travel experience in Canada for 2023. This year, our government increased the number of spots in the program by 20%. This increase means that 90,000 candidates will be able to work and travel in Canada, including filling seasonal job openings in Canada’s tourism industry. By allowing more international youth to work and travel in Canada, our government is helping employers address labour shortages, most of those in the tourism industry.
Yours truly,
Julie
