Dear Neighbour,

I was happy to be sworn in Member of Parliament for Toronto-Danforth last week. Coming out of the pandemic and in the midst of our climate emergency, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and will continue to work hard to be your voice in Ottawa.

The vaccination rate in for Toronto is at 87.5% with one dose and 83.7% fully vaccinated. This has really helped with combating the fourth wave of the pandemic and it is exciting to see many businesses returning to full capacity. I want to thank our partners at Michael Garron Hospital for all their work in getting people vaccinated so that we can move beyond this pandemic.

Photo submissions for the 2022 Community Calendar

After putting out a call on social media, we’ve had some great photo submissions for our Community Calendar; thank you! We love to feature scenes from the neighbourhood, street photography or children's art. Please e-mail your submissions to [email protected] and we will be sure to give you credit in the calendar. Deadline for submissions are Thursday, November 4th at 5pm.

Returning to travel

To ensure the safety of Canadians, as of October 30th, you will have to show proof of double vaccination to board domestic and international flights in Canada, Via Rail trains and cruise ships for those over the age of 12. More details can be found here.

As we are slowly returning to a more normal life, Canada will also be implementing an international vaccine passport to help facilitate travel around the world.

Vaccine Clinic at Gerrard Square

For those needing a vaccine, there are on-going vaccine clinics in the community run by Michael Garron Hospital. Gerrard Square is generally open from 10am to 6pm. Please find the clinic at the south side beside Freedom Mobile.

Getting ready for vaccines in ages 5 to 11

We are expecting approval for Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 next month. The federal government has procured 2.3M pediatric doses, which will be enough for each child to receive one dose. In anticipation of this next phase of the vaccine rollout, Michael Garron Hospital will be hosting a Q&A session on Wednesday, November 10th at 6pm. This event is open to all, but please register here to receive information on how to participate.

Remembrance Day 2021

This year is an extra special National Poppy Campaign as it has been 100 years after the Poppy became the national symbol of remembrance. You will find poppies in the usual places including retail stores and Legions – Branch 10 in our neighbourhood is at 1083 Pape Ave.

On November 11th, you can view the National Ceremony on the major television networks or online on Facebook.

Stay safe and hope to see you soon,
